Secretary Blinken says President Trump was right in approach.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken recently criticized China for acting “egregiously” amid pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong, adding the U.S. may consider giving “haven” to protesters. The People’s Republic of China responded, “Hong Kong affairs are purely China’s internal affairs and allow for no foreign interference.”
During his confirmation hearing last month, Secretary Blinken told the senators, “President Trump was right in taking a tougher approach to China. I disagree very much with the way that he went about it in a number of areas, but the basic principle was the right one, and I think that’s actually helpful to our foreign policy.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary of State Blinken and others in the administration working on both developing and strengthening American policy toward China.
- For residents of Hong Kong who are losing freedoms under new actions taken by China.
